Goldsboro – When Hurricanes Matthew and Florence hit Wayne County, they severely damaged Carol Parker’s home of almost 20 years.
“The windows were broken, and there was water damage everywhere,” Carol described. “I felt so overwhelmed.”
The single mother of three wasn’t sure how she was going to fix her home, but then one of her coworkers told her about ReBuild NC, and she decided to apply. When she got the call telling her she was eligible for home repairs, she couldn’t believe it.
“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’” Carol recalled. “I felt such a relief. There is no way I could have managed these repairs on my own.”
Contractors repaired the damage to Carol’s historic home built in 1925. They fixed windows, repaired the water damage in her kitchen and replaced the electrical wiring.
“They were great to work with,” Carol said. “They kept me in the loop, and they answered all of the concerns that I had. I’m just grateful.”
Carol moved into her home in February 2023 and is already looking forward to cooking in her new kitchen.
“I can’t wait,” Carol said. “I’ve already started picking out new recipes to try. I am so grateful for ReBuild. Anyone who is still in the program, be patient. It’s worth it. This is something I never could have done on my own. Thank you! Thank you, so much!”
